Malin Mattebo
'Remembering a memory'
Warbler Gallery proudly presents Malin Mattebos exhibition 'Remembering a Memory'.
Sometimes something occurs in my color that triggers me.
The combination of two colours.
A shape. Another shape.
A memory hits me. Or maybe a memory of a memory.
Something I did on a hot summer day when I was six years old.
/ Malin Mattebo
Malin Mattebo's paintings are like drips of inks and paintings that never mix. The color particles flowed on the paper, carried by the fluid which then evaporated, leaving visible a mineral topography reminiscent of marble and metamorphic rocks. Through this diagenetic process, the sedimented colours are for Malin Mattebo as many Rorschach tests on which she projects her memories. In an antagonistic way, while the geological layers bear the memory of millennia-old events, Malin Mattebo's paintings are memories of innocuous events, childhood memories or walks. The mineral eternity is confronted with the transience of life. For some of these paintings the confrontation finds itself on a postcard that combines the nostalgic memory of forgotten times with the monumental nature of abstract materials.
